Walsall discover EFL Trophy opponents for 2025-26
Walsall will face Northampton Town and local rivals Shrewsbury Town in Southern Group C of the EFL Trophy next season.
The Saddlers will discover which under-21 club will complete the group in the draw which will begin at 2:30pm on Thursday.
Shrewsbury have been drawn into Walsall's group for the third successive season in this competition.
Mat Sadler's men secured progression to the knockout phase with a 3-0 win over Salop last season, but lost 3-2 in a dead rubber tie at the Croud Meadow in 2023.
Walsall beat League One side Reading on penalties to progress to the Round of 16 last term, where they lost 4-2 against eventual champions Peterborough United in January.
Meanwhile, League One outfit Northampton were also knocked out by the Posh in a 3-0 defeat in the Round of 32.
Arsenal, Aston Villa, Brighton, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham will be entering under-21 teams into the competition next season.
Elsewhere, Walsall will soon discover their League Two fixture list, which is set to be released at 12pm on Thursday.
That will also be followed by the League Cup first round draw.
