The Alabama-based group purchased the Saddlers back in June 2022 before going on to acquire the League of Ireland side in October 2023 - they also own Danish Superliga club Silkeborg IF.

Drogheda qualified for the UEFA Conference League last season by winning the FAI Cup, but due to UEFA’s multi-club ownership rules are unable to participate in the competition.

The Irish side appealed, taking their case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport which has upheld the original decision.

Drogheda said in a statement: "It is with great heartbreak and disbelief that we inform you we have lost our appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

"We strongly disagree with this decision and had hoped and believed that the principles of fairness and common sense would prevail."

There has been a lot of exchanges of players between Walsall and Drogheda.
