Wolves boss Vitor Pereira has been impressed with 'strong' January signing Emmanuel Agbadou.

The centre-back, who arrived earlier in the month from French club Reims for an initial £15million, has played four times for Wolves in all competitions and put in an assured display against Arsenal in his Molineux debut at the weekend.

Pereira admits he has been impressed with the Ivory Coast international's physicality and insists the best it yet to come when he moves Agbadou to his favoured position.

"He's a strong, strong, strong player," Pereira said.

"He's been with us for two or three weeks and he's in the process of adapting to this league, but he's very strong.

"He's strong in the air, strong on the ground, strong in the duels.

"He's playing on the left side and it's difficult for him of course, but he was fantastic in my opinion.

"Playing in the middle or the right side will be better, for sure."

The head coach does also concede that Agbadou will get even better with time as he adapts to the Premier League.

“When we bring a player, the player and the team needs time to coordinate him with the team, and the team to coordinate with him," Pereira added.

"We don't have a lot of time, and in between the games we need to recover.

"It’s difficult without work that demands physicality, a lot of movements is difficult, the coordination, because he came with different concepts and now he needs to understand our concepts.

"We are trying to create the right coordination.”

Meanwhile, Pereira gave a coy response when quizzed if Boubacar Traore will impact the first team this season.

The midfielder was due to leave on loan in the summer until he picked up a serious knee injury that required surgery.

Traore has now played twice for the under-21s in recent weeks as he recovers from that injury.

Wolves are keen to sign a new midfielder before the transfer window closes on February 3, meaning there may not be space for Traore in the squad, depending on the future of wantaway former captain Mario Lemina.

And when asked about Traore's role for the remainder of this season, Pereira was guarded in his response.

"He's come from a long injury and I'm trying to understand what he can give to us," Pereira said.

"He's a good personality, a good player and I hope he can help us."
