Wolves star Matheus Cunha warned over poor body language

The Brazilian star, who has worn the armband under Pereira when Nelson Semedo has been out, cut a frustrated figure at Stamford Bridge as he complained at team-mates and seemed not to put in the required effort.

And rather than defend his player, head coach Pereira has urged for more from his best attacker.

"He's a captain and I had this conversation in the dressing room," Pereira said of Cunha's performance.

"He can be frustrated because he wants to win, but everyone in the dressing room wants to win.

"I don't like this body language. I want someone as a captain, trying to help the team, running, suffering, fighting together.

"But this is something I can understand. Next time I will not understand."

After the defeat the Wolves players and staff approached the away end and clapped their supporters, but Cunha was the only player who went straight down the tunnel.

And Pereira has fired a warning to Cunha over that decision.

"This is something that cannot happen," Pereira added.

"OK, the frustration is the frustration and I understand everything, but we need to be together.

"Together we can fix the problems and we can stay in the Premier League.

"If we start to complain about this or that, with me this is not the way."

The forward has been the subject of interest from Arsenal recently, while Manchester United and other top clubs admire him.

Wolves are still working on agreeing a new contract with Cunha, but when asked if the interest from other clubs has turned his head, Pereira said it is 'normal' for players to be distracted by it.

"He is committed to Wolves," the head coach insisted.

"But in your life when you start to listen that other clubs (are interested), he's human and it's normal in football.

"He needs to put his mind on the target, to increase his level because he's come from injury and it's normal he's not at the same level now.

"To help the team again with his quality, because he has a lot of quality. 

"The team needs him with good energy, not with frustration. He must slow down and put his mind in the right place."
