Wolves loans round-up as defender returns early from spell abroad

The 21-year-old joined Swiss top flight side Yverdon Sport on a season-long loan spell but after just four appearances in all competitions, he has already returned to Wolves and cut his time at Yverdon short.

The right-back, who broke into the Wolves first team in 2022 before going on loan to both Rotherham and Scottish side Hearts, is likely to leave on loan this month to another British side.

The Jamaican international, who came through the Wolves academy, is expected to have a number of suitors to leave for the rest of the season.

Alongside him, midfielder Luke Cundle could depart in the coming weeks.

The 22-year-old did not complete a loan move in the summer and has failed to make a single first team appearance so far this campaign.

As a result, he is expected to get a move this month, with some Championship clubs interested.

Cundle has experience in the second tier having had loan spells with Swansea, Plymouth and Stoke.

Striker Nathan Fraser has also already returned from his time with Belgian side Zulte Waregem, after making just five appearances in all competitions.

The forward, who played regularly for the Wolves first team last season after a number of injuries to attacking stars, was unable to make an impact in Belgium and Wolves will now assess their options with the academy graduate.

In League One, Nigel Lonwijk and Joe Hodge have both been on loan at Huddersfield.

Midfielder Hodge has only made nine appearances after suffering a serious groin injury that kept him sidelined for more than two months.

He returned to action on December 29 and made his first start since the injury on the weekend.

Centre-back Lonwijk, however, has impressed at the heart of defence, making 22 appearances in all competitions so far this campaign.

As it stands, both players are due to stay at Huddersfield for the rest of the season.

Chem Campbell has also had a successful time at Reading, becoming a key player and regular starter for the League One side.

He notched five goals and four assists before his loan officially ended on Monday, however, Reading are keen on extending his loan for the rest of the season.

Several other clubs are also likely to be interested.

Tawanda Chirewa has struggled with a number of injuries on loan at Derby and has played just six times.

As it stands, he is expected to stay at Derby and will be challenged to keep fit and break his way into the team.

Wolves also have four more senior players out on loan.

Hugo Bueno has overcome two small injuries to play a key role for Feyenoord.

Wolves do not have a recall option but hope Bueno will return and make an impact next season.

Fabio Silva is also impressing at Las Palmas with five goals and two assists in 14 games.

There is no option to recall him and he is expected to stay in Spain, with Wolves aiming to offload him permanently in the summer.

Chiquinho has had a less successful time in Spain with Mallorca, making just eight appearances.

However, as he has already played for Wolves this season he will not be able to leave Mallorca and play for another team, meaning his loan is unlikely to be cancelled early.

Ki-Jana Hoever has also been playing regularly in France for AJ Auxerre.
