That extended Walsall's winning streak to seven games in League Two and increased their unbeaten run to 14 league games.

Notts County were the much stronger outfit in the first half as Alassana Jatta fired them ahead inside 26 minutes.

Jatta had been denied by a miraculous goal-line clearance from Evan Weir moments before and Sadler highlighted the importance of keeping the score down at the break.

He said: "The first half, plan A didn't work and we have to thank Evan (Weir) for keeping that score down because I haven't seen a better goal line clearance than that before.

"We had to really be resilient in that first half because you go 1-0 down, I can make the changes and do what I needed to do. If it goes 2-0 then it's a different game."

Oisin McEntee and Jamille Matt were introduced at the break and the latter hauled Walsall level on 65 minutes.

Nathan Lowe then bagged the winner eight minutes from time to extend his tally to 17 in all competitons and maintain Walsall's 12-point lead at the summit.

"Credit to everybody to dig in when it wasn't quite working but obviously we shuffled the pack and turned things around in the second half," he continued.

"I just thought the energy in the second half from the group was unbelievable. We looked like a team possessed. The energy from Oisin and Jamille was a game changer for us.

"I'm going to have to find all different ways to win games this year. Today, the plan wasn't quite working and we had to slightly adjust. Credit to the lads, they were unbelievable in that second half."
