Albion have lost their second midfielder in a week with Ronnie Wallwork joining Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday.
The Baggies released the 30-year-old and he has signed at Hillsborough until the end of the season.
Wallwork has been out of the picture at The Hawthorns this term and only returned to the club recently following a three-month loan at League One Huddersfield. The former Manchester United man signed for Albion in 2002 on a free transfer from Old Trafford, going on to make 107 appearances for the club.
Wallwork was named player of the year during the 2004/05 Great Escape season but has had few chances since Tony Mowbray replaced Bryan Robson as manager.
Sheffield Wednesday boss Brian Laws said: "It is a great signing for us in the fact that he has a lot of experience and is a good midfield player.
"He gets around the park and sticks his foot in, which is what you need to get away from the bottom end of the Championship."
Wallwork leaves The Hawthorns just two days after Richard Chaplow moved to Preston and boss Mowbray has indicated that other out-of-favour players like John Hartson could leave in the transfer window.
