'We must all help by taking our rubbish home with us' - Your Letters: March 12

DON'T LITTER OUR GRASS VERGES
Before spring growth comes, our road verges and other lanes and paths need care. The amount of rubbish people throw away as they travel is in stark view now. It looks awful, but worse, it could destroy the lives of animals and birds, even some delicate plants.
During the coldest weather they are not too active, but with warmth they will be in full readiness to enjoy new life that they feel. Eating or getting caught in the rubbish can cause injury or death.
Many volunteer to do such work and we all benefit from their efforts. Thank you everyone, your time and effort is appreciated. We must all help simply by taking our rubbish home with us. Just pop it all in one bag, then into a bin, and all is well with the world, providing authorities keep the bins properly cleared. Overfilled bins destroy all efforts and discourage the public from continuing to take care. One piece of dropped and blown rubbish almost encourages others to fail to take that little extra effort.
We’ll all benefit from it.

TRUMP THROWS WEIGHT AROUND
President Trump seems to relish throwing his weight around. Is it just me or as a President he probably makes a fine businessman with his demands that Ukraine 'pays' for all the military hardware etc that have been supplied to them.
Then again if my memory serves me well, I think that the United Kingdom finished paying off the debt we built up with the USA during the Second World War in about 2015. Yes all the value of food, raw materials and equipment we had from them was added up as we were given the bill at the end. I don't think anywhere else was treated so. But, then, we have a 'special relationship' with them don't we?

WHY NOT GO FOR HYDROGEN CARS?
Everyone is telling us to go electric with our vehicles, yet they are very expensive, with range worry a concern, charging points another worry. The government is telling us that before too long new petrol and diesel vehicles will be a thing of the past. They once told us not that long ago that we should all go to diesel vehicles and that worked out well, didn't it!
Why is there nothing being said about hydrogen powered vehicles which I believe are plentiful and loads cheaper than electric? Only recently I have seen a train powered by hydrogen. JCB is running hydrogen powered diggers, buses are running on hydrogen. Could it possibly be that those that hold the money are afraid they will lose out if hydrogen is a better option to electric and this is why nothing is ever mentioned about this cheaper and planet saving fuel?
