'Time for the disruptors to shake up this malaise' - Your Letters: February 19

POLITICIANS HAVE FAILED US BADLY
So an anonymous writer tells us, informs us, warns us that the Reform UK Party are not a political party (thank heavens for that).
Well the decades of the failed three party closed shop has been a brilliant success - hasn't it?!
Heath, Wilson, Callaghan, Thatcher, Major, Bliar, Brown, Cameron (and ever forgettable Clegg), May, Johnson, Truss, Sunak and now the contemptible and appalling Starmer & Co.
No wonder voter indifference and apathy has set in with the public, no trust, and no respect whatsoever in our elected "representatives". Time now for the disruptors to shake up this malaise.
Political parties have given us the credo of profit before people, rip-off UK / GB, globalisation, and vested interests. And where have we ended up? Illegal wars, banking collapse, a cost of living crisis et al, and food bank UK plc. Disgraceful.
The abysmal quality of politicians in public life and public office is never ending, in cohort, and combined with the dire unelected bloated (and now WFH) establishment - the Civil Service, Quangos & SpAds, the policy wonks and spinners beloved of this new government and not forgetting those extra special "vested Interests".

ANOTHER PLOT AGAINST THE OLD
So here we go again, another plot to do away with older people. First no Waspi women pay then no winter heating fuel allowance, but of course, if you haven't worked you can claim pension credit and that opens the floodgates for lots of other things.
Now we are not wanted on the roads as we are a danger if we are over 60 years old. I do agree as I drove buses past 65 years, maybe make it mandatory to have a full medical at a GP practice that covers eye tests, although still go to the optician. Do take some responsibility for yourself.
On the other hand, what about young drivers running over us oldies? And driving when on the phone, and other things. Why do we get the blame? Do they have an eye test for example?
The law states if you have glasses you should wear them when driving. So before driving all us oldies off the planet, take a hard look at younger drivers too. Or maybe they are going too fast to be caught.
I was a girl racer all those years ago but the locals didn't kick up all this fuss, it was live and let live. Whatever they do with speed limits they will never win, a load of nonsense.
