'Success was due to the incredible work put in by Councillor Hyatt' - Your Letters: July 2
PICTURE FROM THE ARCHIVE: An outing by Bloxwich Memorial Club to Blackpool on or about August 18, 1975. The caption reads: Mrs Janet Allen of Valley Road, Bloxwich, trying to make a sand castle, but every time down came the demolishing spade of John Jones, also of Valley Road, Bloxwich.

OUR BEST WISHES TO COUNCILLOR
As it is now public knowledge Councillor Carol Hyatt has been suffering from ill-health for several months, on behalf of her friends at ‘No Limits to Health’ cycling group and many others, I would would like to send her our very best wishes and hope she soon makes a full recovery.
In recent years Sam Henry and I have had the great pleasure to work with Carol on cycling related matters within Wolverhampton, in particular the recent ‘Kidical Mass’ cycle ride which was attended by some 200 people who rode from East Park to Molineux and back again.
The day was a total success with many young people joining the ride. Much of that success was due to the incredible work put in by Cllr Hyatt behind the scenes. Work driven by her passion to get people - the young in particular - to ride bicycles. We know she had desperately wanted to be in East Park on that day but was sadly unable to join us.
It is our earnest wish and that of all her many friends that Carol is present in East Park in June 2026. We need your leadership and wisdom.
GB Carol.

DEFICIT SHOWS BREXIT FAILURE
Ron Goodhall believes that leaving the EU was the right thing to do.
However, there are many dissenting voices, including most of the major business trade and farming organisations.
HM Revenue and Customs have just revealed the latest annual figures which show the UK food trade deficit now stands at £42 billion, a 61 per cent increase since 2019 (the last year before the UK left the EU).
There are a number of reasons for this, one of which is the extra paperwork which came with the exit deal. Some of our exporters have clearly given up.
In the run-up to the referendum, I clearly remember Brexiteer MPs saying that we do not owe the EU one penny.
It turns out that our leaving bill is £50 billion spread over the years 2020 to 2026. Strangely this was not mentioned by Boris when he sold us his oven ready deal.

BRING DRONE TO MILITARY FACTORY
Now the world military map is being redrawn, what a wonderful opportunity to manufacture drones at the RBSL, Telford and fit them to their artillery. The RBSL site would have spare capacity, has good road and rail connections and skilled labour.
