Why greyhound racing should go

I have not read Mimi Bekhechi's letter, but I have to take issue with C Prince's reply.

1. Greyhounds love to run, not race which is not the same thing.

2. If fewer hounds were bred that would be a good thing, there would be less pressure on rehoming and avoid what the industry laughingly calls wastage, ie the pups that don't make the grade.

3. Just because it's a tradition doesn't make it right. Cock fighting and bear baiting were traditional activities, thank goodness they have disappeared. Bull fighting in Spain is traditional but thankfully dying out.

4. Greyhound racing is abusive and exploitative. We have rehomed four ex racing greyhounds and all of them had physical and or psychological issues from racing.

5. Just like race horses the dogs are only looked after properly as long as they are making money for their owners.

In short, greyhound racing is an abomination which should totally disappear.

Reform is a risk to democracy

Nigel Farage and Reform UK are funded by the very rich for the benefit of the very rich, not for the rest of us. Farage does not have the resources, plans or competence to fix all the problems he has identified in the UK, neither in local nor national government.

Donald Trump and his inner circle have already benefited much financially since the start of his second term, while the average American is feeling the pressure. Farage would import the Trump Project into the UK and the rest of us would be worse off in a very short space of time.

Promises don't deliver solutions. Don't let the far right deceive you that they will make things better if you elect them. Democracy is at risk!

Children will find the chips!

Starmer’s ban on deep fat fried food in schools will have no effect on childhood obesity, as the children will reject the alternative offerings, and simply buy chips on the way home, or eat them when mum puts the fryer on later.

The uneaten school pasta and “healthy” food will go down the waste disposal unit as much does already unseen.

Children will gorge on fatty foods later!
