47. Shining a light on history as Victorian school day steps back in time
Dressed in traditional period costume, young Simon Bradley kneels on the hall floor to give visiting parent Ralph Villau a thorough shoe polish during a lively school open day in 1982. Classmates in top hats, bonnets, shawls, and chimney-sweep gear watch on as part of a hands-on history project exploring Black Country life over the previous century. Following an inspiring trip to the Black Country Living Museum, the pupils put on a memorable interactive showcase to demonstrate Victorian trades, customs, and daily routines to their parents.
