Further misery as work delayed

Motorists faced further delays and chaos today around Kidderminster because of resurfacing work at Chester Road North.

It is the latest in a string of roadworks to hit drivers and shopowners in the town.

Traders thought the prob- lems was at an end until resurfacing work, by contractors working for Worcester- shire County Council, beg- an a week ago. It was expec- ted to be completed within seven days but highway chiefs said it was due to continue for another week.

Resurfacing is being carried out along a three-quarter of a mile stretch along Chester Road North, between Broadwaters and King Charles I High School, a main route for motorists.

Flower shop owner Mrs Sharon Simester, aged 33, who runs Blooming Marvellous, said: "People have just not been able to get to the shop because of the work."

Mr Jon Fraser, highways manager with Worcestershire County Council, said: "We apologise for any inconvenience this work has caused but people have been asking for resurfacing."
