Workers at a Dudley brick making company are set to go on strike next week in response to what the GMB Union has branded “eye-watering demands” from bosses.

Nearly 30 workers are expected to down tools after the business imposed gruelling new production targets on staff, without investment in training or new machinery. - according to the union.

Glen Dimplex has been contacted for comment about the situation but has not yet responded.

The Dudley based manufacturer produces specialist brick products for heating systems in homes and workplaces across the UK.

GMB organiser Stuart Perry said: "Our members demands here are really basic - they want a safe workplace.

"Bosses are trying to force through eye-watering demands on their staff, with zero investment in training or new machinery.

"Instead workers are being asked to deliver a 50 per cent increase in production, with management offering no solutions and support in how to do that.

"This isn't about pay rises, it's about our members knowing they have the support and equipment they need to do the job and return home to their families each day.

"It could be dangerous, plain and simple, but unfortunately top brass seem more interested in trousering profits than keeping workers safe."
