Wolves fans 'fell in love' with new 150th anniversary kit, says supporter - what do you think?

The kit launch has been popular with supporters

A lifelong Wolves supporter who appeared in the club's official kit launch video says fans "fell in love" with the club's new 2026/27 home shirt as soon as they got their first glimpse of it.

Wol ‘Wal’ Wallbank was among a select group of supporters invited to take part in the unveiling of the kit, which has been designed to mark Wolves' 150th anniversary and draws heavily on the club's heritage, including the return of the traditional Old Gold colour.

Speaking at Molineux for the unveiling of the shirt to supporters in the club shop, Wal said: "The kit is absolutely brilliant, as soon as we first saw it at the launch we all fell in love with it. It's just what we wanted.

"The old gold and the crest as well, I've got that tattooed on my shoulder as well as the new badge on the back of my head.

"The kit launch was great, and it was fantastic to be involved with something like that, especially with it being the 150th anniversary.

"Not many people have been involved with it so it was a real honour, it truly was.

"When I got home people knew I was involved with the launch and they were asking me loads of questions, but I couldn't say a word. I was bluffing them and telling them false information, that's all I could do."

The anniversary shirt is the culmination of months of consultation between Wolves, kit manufacturer SUDU and supporter groups, with fans helping shape key elements of the design. The club sought feedback on everything from the shade of gold used in the shirt to heritage-inspired details, with many supporters calling for a return to the iconic Old Gold colour associated with some of Wolves' most memorable eras.

Club historian Peter Crump also played a role in the design process, helping ensure the kit reflected the rich history of a club founded in 1877.

The new shirt has been launched as the centrepiece of Wolves' 150th anniversary celebrations and has already generated a positive reaction among supporters eager to see the club embrace its traditions.

For Wal, a fan whose passion for Wolves is literally written on his skin through tattoos of both the historic crest and current badge, the finished product has struck exactly the right balance between celebrating the past and looking to the future.

And judging by the reaction at the launch event, he believes plenty of fellow supporters agree.
