There was a tingle of anticipation in the air when we spoke to fans when the draw first produced the possibility of a Black Country derby. And now that it's definitely happening, here's a reminder of what they said.

Allan Bell from Bilston has been a Wolves supporter for more than 50 years and the 72-year-old said he had been sitting in Coseley Social Club when the draw took place.

He said: "I was sat there in the social club and it was mostly Wolves fans in there and they were all watching the draw coming out, so they cheered when they heard our name come out next to West Brom's name.

"I've been there a long time with Wolves and I've seen all the good times and bad, especially against West Brom.

"I think if we do get through to play them, it would be a close game, and it's the closest we'll get to a proper Black Country derby until they get promoted."

For Andrew Hodges from Sedgley, the game held a different feeling, with the 60-year-old being a lifelong Liverpool supporter, but having an interest in how Wolves got on.

He said: "I've followed Liverpool since 1975, but my dad also took me down to Wolves when I was eight years old and I used to go down there in the 1970s when they had Derek Dougan and John Richards and David Wagstaffe.

"I think it would be a great game for the Midlands as Wolves haven't played West Brom in so long and I'd be rooting for Wolves, to be fair.

"If it does happen, I can imagine it being a very tight game and, maybe, a replay as well, but it would be good to see and would bring eyes on the region."

Lifelong Wolves supporter Pete Evans from Pendeford was a lot more confident, with the 78-year-old saying the potential tie was an easy way for Wolves to make the fifth round.

He said: "When I saw the draw for the fourth round, I just thought we'd be on our way to the fifth round as I think it's no problem to get past Brentford and I think West Brom would be an easy game.

"I think it would be a huge game for them, but just another game for Wolves and I think when we do play them, it'll be a 2-0 win to Wolves."

On the other side of the divide was Tyler Jackson from Dudley, with the 20-year-old sporting a Wolves tracksuit from his university coaching course, but confirming he was a lifelong Baggies supporter and saying he was excited at the prospect of a derby match.

He said: "I've been a West Brom fan my whole life because my family have always been supporters and I've been following them properly for the last few years - and I'm only wearing this tracksuit as I'm doing a university course around coaching.

"I was watching the draw and when I saw West Brom come out first, I was hoping for Wolves or Villa and it was amazing when Wolves came out and I was jumping around the room.

"If all goes well and we do play them, I think it would a struggle as their quality is so much better, but the FA Cup is a weird thing and it would be the first time since 2012 that there would be fans there as well, so it'll be good."
