Much-loved Wolverhampton takeaway handed rated one for food hygiene
One local takeaway received a dreaded one star food hygiene rating - take a look below!
It seems that in March 2026, no established received a dreaded ‘zero’ score but quite a fair few received a ‘1’ ranking.
One place we thought we’d draw your eyes to one place that stood out for us, as it ranked rather lowly in its food hygiene score is Pizza Line & Grill located on Wednesfield Road, Wolverhampton.
The takeaway was recently handed a ‘1’ star rating after an inspection in March 2026.

On Google Reviews, the takeaway has a 3.8 score out of 5.
With one reviewer praising the takeaway’s cuisine, sharing: “Honestly one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time! The food came out fresh, full of flavour, and the portions were generous. The staff were super welcoming and attentive without being overbearing. Atmosphere was relaxed and perfect for a night out. Definitely coming back again!”.
A low rating means that food inspectors outlined serious concerns about the takeaway’s hygiene practices.
Though, it is important to note that Pizza Line & Grill is not the only place that received a poor score
Other businesses such as Dolce Wolverhampton, Majors Fish And Chips and Bon Cafe & Bakery also received a low ‘1’ star score in March 2026.
Wolverhampton is not the only location that has poor food hygiene rankings. Recent research from Playcasino.com showed across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, 907 food businesses are operating with a zero rating. While, a further 13,548 are rated 1 or 2.
Research showed Birmingham and Walsall ranked in its top 10 places for poor food hygiene. Birmingham ranked 6th on the list, while nearby Walsall ranked 7th on the list.
For Birmingham, the researchers said, “The worst major city in England outside London. 38% of Birmingham's takeaways rated 3 or below at inspection. 10% rated 1 or lower.”
Meanwhile, for Walsall it was “Consistently second lowest in the West Midlands across multiple FSA data analyses”.
The Food Hygiene Rating Scheme inspection assesses risk to public health and is split into three key areas: food hygiene practices, the structure and cleanliness of the premises, and food safety management systems.
