Wolverhampton roads to close for major gas and resurfacing works

Two roads will be hit by closures - one in Bilston and the other near West Park
Drivers in Wolverhampton are being warned of temporary road closures in Bilston and near West Park as essential gas and highway improvement works get underway this week.
The longest closure will affect Regent Street in Bilston, where Cadent Gas engineers will carry out work on the gas network from June 1 to June 10.
The closure will be in place outside property number 10 through to the side of property 45. During the 10-day project, motorists will be diverted via Prouds Lane and Dover Street, with the diversion operating in both directions.
Wolverhampton Council said the work is necessary to maintain and improve the area's gas infrastructure and advised motorists to allow extra time for journeys.
Meanwhile, a separate programme of highway improvements will see Great Hampton Street temporarily closed for resurfacing and relining work between June 1 and June 5.
The closure will affect the section between New Hampton Road East and outside number 23 Great Hampton Street. Restrictions will only be in force between 8am and 5pm each day, as required.
Council officials said access and exit for residents and businesses would be maintained wherever it is safe to do so.
The resurfacing scheme forms part of ongoing efforts to improve road conditions across the city and is expected to deliver a smoother and safer route for motorists once completed.
Drivers are advised to follow signed diversion routes and plan ahead while the works are taking place.
