Wolverhampton police teams want to tackle ‘off-road bike riders nuisance’ this summer

Wolverhampton officers hope to tackle off-road bike riders nuisance this summer.

Wolverhampton policing units have stepped up patrols as they tackle an “off-road bike riders nuisance” which can be quite “dangerous”, the police said.

West Midlands Police said that last weekend its Bilston neighbourhood team were in Weddell Wynd carrying out “high-visibility patrols on foot and on bike”. The force also spoke to residents about the different ways they could report nuisance behaviour.

“We're already out there working with partners and the community to pinpoint when and where there are any issues and we will be tracing those involved and dealing with them. In many cases this will include us seizing bikes which are illegal,” Sgt Lindsey Ward, from Bilston Neighbourhood Team said.

They continued: “Causing a nuisance with off-road bikes is not acceptable and can not only cause a great deal of upset and disruption but can also put other people in harm’s way. Our teams are out there patrolling places and spaces that we know have been impacted before and we'd ask the community to report any incidents to us so we can target our patrols and identify offenders.”
