Wolverhampton 10K: Road closures, route, charities and everything you need to know as thousands take part in the huge running event
It will be a day for runners of all ages and abilities to hit the roads of Wolverhampton for a 10K running event with fun and charity at its heart.
The Wolverhampton 10K has become a popular part of the athletics diary for runners in and around Wolverhampton.
It will provide participants with the opportunity to run inside the iconic Molineux Stadium before heading out on a 10,000 metre course around the outskirts of Wolverhampton past a number of landmarks.
With the streets of Wolverhampton set to be lined by supporters roaring on the runners, here is a guide to what the run is, what charity it is supporting and what the course looks like.
When is the Wolverhampton 10K taking place and where is it starting?
The event is taking place on Sunday, March 23, starting at 9am at Molineux Stadium and with an aim to be finished by 11am.
The remainder of the course will be on flat closed roads around Wolverhampton, with each mile accurately marked out with distance flags and with plenty of helpers along the course to keep people on track.
How long has the event been running for and which charity is it raising funds for?
The event started in 2022 and has grown in size since it first started, with more than 2,000 people racing around the city in 2024 and more than £25,000 raised.
The proceeds from the event, which is organised by RunThrough, go towards the palliative care provider, Compton Care, as the official charity for the event.

What will participants receive on the day?
All participants will receive a unique themed medal, free official race photos, chip times results and post race snacks.
What is the route of the run?
The route is a gently undulating route on closed roads in Wolverhampton city centre, starting and finishing at Molineux Stadium.
The first 3km is mostly downhill, along the A449 and levels out towards the middle of the race, before some very gentle inclines back to the stadium, going past Wolverhampton Racecourse at Dunstall Park and Aldersley Stadium, before heading up past West Park and back into Molineux for the finish.
What are the timings of the event and what road closures are in place?
The race has a start time of 9am and an expected race finish time of 11am.
In light of this event, there will be traffic management procedures in place and these procedures have been designed to offer minimal disruption and will be managed by an expert Traffic Management company that will reopen roads as soon as possible and provide appropriate diversions during disrupted times between 9am and 11am.

The following roads will be closed during the event: Stafford Road northbound, Oxley Moor Road, Aldersley Road, Hordern Road, New Hampton Road, Park Road and Waterloo Road.
Residents on affected roads are advised to park outside of the route in advance of the event if possible, if vehicle access is required during the event.
For example, residents of Park Road could park on Albert Road, which is not affected by the event.
