Arriving at the zoo before it opens to the public, those embarking on the breakfast tour can join one of the conservation charity’s expert rangers for an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience.
Having helped collect breakfast for the world’s largest rodent, guests will make their way to the capybara’s habitat, learning fascinating facts about the behaviour of these gentle South American animals, as well as the challenges they face in the wild.

After delivering the capybara’s breakfast and watching them tuck into their morning feast, guests will continue their day with an exclusive tour of some of Twycross Zoo’s South American species - including Humboldt penguins, coppery titi monkeys, Vicuna and pygmy marmosets - discovering the fascinating stories behind these animals and the vital conservation work taking place to protect endangered species.
Following a refreshment break, inclusive of a hot drink and pastry at Costa Coffee, guests can enjoy the rest of the day exploring Twycross Zoo.
A spokesperson at Twycross Zoo said: “Our existing capybara experience has been so sought-after that it is regularly sold out at least four months in advance.
“By launching this brand-new experience, we’re able to offer more visitors the opportunity to get closer to these amazing animals, while supporting our ongoing conservation charity initiatives.”
Twycross Zoo’s new Capybara Breakfast Tour costs £260 per tour, for up to four people, inclusive of a hot drink and pastry at Costa Coffee and full-day zoo admission.
