West Midlands Safari Park shares cute update on new 'cheeky' penguin chicks

Staff at the safari park said they ‘can't get enough of these two’.

West Midlands Safari Park has shared a cute update on its new ‘cheeky’ penguin chicks who have been ‘keeping keepers on their toes’

The population attraction welcomed two adorable new additions to Penguin Cove, following the hatching of two adorable Humboldt penguin chicks in April.

Keepers named them after musical legends Oasis and Ozzy - both names beginning with ‘O’ as all animals born at the Park in 2026 will have names starting with this letter.

Oasis, the eldest chick, was born on 1 April to four-year-old Kris and her partner, 11-year-old Dumbledore, while Ozzy hatched on 9 April to parents four-year-old Kendall and 15-year-old Elder.

In a post shared on social media on Tuesday, which included new pictures of the chicks, the safari park said: “Ozzy and Oasis are officially entering their cheeky era!

“These sassy little chicks have been keeping our keepers on their toes during daily checks, with plenty of personality already shining through.

“Last week, Ozzy was spotted perfecting the art of sunbathing... but don't worry, they were making the most of the watered-down sand to keep their belly nice and cool!

“We can't get enough of these two. Which chick do you think is causing the most mischief? “
