West Brom fans warned of travel disruption ahead of Charlton clash at The Hawthorns

Traffic update for fans and residents

West Brom fans have been warned to expect busier public transport and road closures as the Baggies take on Charlton Athletic at The Hawthorns tonight.

Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) has urged supporters to plan their journeys ahead of the 7.45pm kick-off.

Buses, trains and trams serving The Hawthorns are expected to be busier than normal, while Halfords Lane will be closed around the match.

TfWM said fans should check travel information before setting off and allow extra time for their journeys.

The Hawthorns is served by both train and Metro, with the stations located next to each other and around a five-minute walk from the stadium.

The 74 bus between Birmingham city centre and Dudley also stops outside the ground and runs about every 10 minutes.

Road closures around The Hawthorns

Supporters driving to the match have also been warned about restrictions before and after the game.

From 95 minutes before kick-off, Halfords Lane will close to vehicles between Hawthorns Railway Bridge and the Birmingham Road junction.

Exceptions will apply for residents and users of club-operated car parks.

The inside lane of the westbound Birmingham Road carriageway, towards M5 Junction 1, will also close.

After the match, Halfords Lane will remain closed for up to 40 minutes after the final whistle.

The westbound Birmingham Road carriageway towards M5 Junction 1 will also close between Park Lane and Screwfix from 10 minutes before full time for up to 40 minutes.

Fans using club car parks will not be able to enter or leave from 10 minutes before full time until pedestrian traffic has cleared the area.
