The youngsters are brought up to demonstrate the school's core values, such as showing perseverance when they are faced with a challenge, and being caring towards those less fortunate than themselves.

The Ofsted inspectors noted on their visit that the school has high expectations for all of its pupils.

Headteacher Jon Stevens spoke to the Express & Star about his pride for his school and pupils.

"We were really pleased with our Ofsted grade," Mr Stevens said. "It reflects the hard work of our pupils and our staff.

"We have a wonderful group of children who work really hard and do their very best. We are really pleased with their success.

"We also have a dedicated staff who work hard to get the best out of the children, as well as really supportive parents.

"We are really pleased to have a close-knit school community, where we all work together.

"All we ask them to do is achieve their potential and work to their very best, put 100 per cent of their effort into everything they do, and if they do that, they will be successful.

"As with all inspections, there are areas to continue to improve. These areas will be prioritised in our school development plan moving forward."

Pupils achieve well because of the carefully designed curriculum that they learn, with the majority of them achieving above expectation in reading and maths.

The inspectors also noted that the school is one where everybody feels included - pupils learn that everyone is different and unique, which celebrated at Bromley Hills.

The school does its bit for the local community, collecting clothes for those in need and making donations to food banks.

Children also look forward to the residential trips in years five and six, which for many is their first time away from home and gives them a 'sense of independence'.
