Watch shots fired at Dudley home injuring woman as six men sentenced for 80 years

A video released by police has shown moments leading to a shooting that left a woman injured in Dudley as six men have been sentenced for the incident.

The video captured the moment shots were fired from a grey Audi outside an address on Priory Road, Dudley shortly after 12.15am on July 3 last year.

A woman in her 20s suffered life-changing injuries after a bullet passed through the front door and struck her. She was taken to hospital for treatment.

Investigating officers from West Midlands Police reviewed hours of CCTV footage to trace the Audi’s movements. Their enquiries revealed the car had been stolen from an address in Wednesbury in the early hours of July 2.

At around 11.45pm that evening, the Audi was driven from a nearby car park to Priory Road, passing the address three times before five shots were fired.

Following further investigation, firearms officers stopped a vehicle in Oldbury linked to the incident. On July 14, Kile Straker, 35, and Ethan Colbourne, 23, were arrested.

Kieron Atkins, 27, was arrested in West Bromwich a few days later.

An investigation into the theft of the Audi also resulted in the arrest of 24-year-old Stephen Simms and 28-year-old Iranveer Gill.

Straker of Armstrong Drive, Wolverhampton, Colbourne of Moat Road, Tipton and Atkins of Rydding Lane, West Bromwich were convicted of attempted murder and possession of a fireman with intent to endanger life following a trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court last month.

Gill, of Bridgnorth Road, Shipley, was also convicted of theft of a motor vehicle. Straker and Colbourne along with Simms of Alexandra Road pleaded guilty to theft of motor vehicle before the start of the trial.

On Thursday (March 26) the group were sentenced to more than 80 years combined. The sentences for each were:

  • Straker was jailed for 30 years with an additional five years on licence
  • Colbourne was sentenced to 26 years
  • Atkins was jailed for 28 years
  • Smith was sentenced to 10 months
  • Gill was given an eight month suspended sentence
  • A 25-year-old man from Wolverhampton pleaded guilty to theft of a motor vehicle at an earlier hearing and received a 12-month prison sentence

Detective Inspector Francis Nock, from our Major Crime Unit, said: "This was a planned shooting involving a stolen car which was not only terrifying for the woman, but left her with life-changing injuries.

"Those involved in this attack have rightly been taken off the streets for a very long time having received significant jail terms."
