Watch: Self-confessed killer arrested 28 years after Dudley woman's murder

Trevor Dunkley confessed because he thought police were “onto him”

Footage shows the moment a man was arrested for the murder of a mother-of-seven in Dudley nearly 30 years after he killed her.

Trevor Dunkley, 66, murdered Patricia Lashley as she lay in bed at the flat they shared in Hall Street, Dudley, in 1998, before disposing of her body in household waste months later.

He escaped justice for almost three decades before suddenly confessing to officers during a visit from a missing persons investigation team earlier this year, telling them: "I killed her. I'm sorry".

Dunkley, who told officers he feared they were "onto him", has now been jailed for life with a minimum term of 10 years before he can apply for parole.
