Watch: New pictures show progress being made on £32m Aldridge 'Super Tip'

Work is progressing well on the new £32 million "Super-Tip" in Aldridge as these pictures show.

The super-tip, officially named the Household Waste Recycling Centre and Waste Transfer Station, is set to replace the current Waste Recycling Centre at Merchants Way, Aldridge.

The Merchants Way site will remain open until the new facility is ready, which is expected to be in summer 2025.

The station will have the capacity to process 40,000 tonnes of rubbish per year across 19 bays, each housing two skips.

Much of the energy needed to run the facility will be offset by solar panels which will be installed at the site.

A reuse shop will provide staff with space to refurbish items that would otherwise have been thrown away.

The items, all in good and safe condition, will then be sold at a low cost.

The project coincides with improvement works at the Household Waste and Recycling Centre at Fryers Road in Bloxwich.

The first signs of life can now be seen at the new £32 million super-tip in Aldridge as the structural framework for two stations and a shop have now been built.

Construction started at the Middlemore Lane site in August 2024.

In the most recent update, the council said it expects the works to be completed at Middlemore Lane in summer 2025.
