Watch: Bridgnorth's first McDonald's restaurant arrives on the back of a trailer
Shropshire's newest McDonald's restaurant has arrived in Bridgnorth - on the back of a trailer!
In July 2023, Shropshire Council planners gave the go ahead to build the market town's first-ever McDonald's restaurant - to be located in Chartwell Business Park.
It was part of a larger application that would see the erection of two units, the other set to be a new Starbucks.
The plans were well-received by locals, with more than 600 lodging letters of support to the council's planning department, many citing the creation of jobs and the boost it could bring to the local economy.

Diggers first moved in back in February to clear the ground and make way for the fast food and coffee giants.
Last month, a spokesperson for McDonald's confirmed that progress on the site was going as planned and that the main building would be arriving in pre-fabricated form on September 1.

"There will be some disruption on the day, including the presence of large lorries, cranes and delivery vehicles in the area," he said.
The building arrived in Bridgnorth on Monday at 7am, and the task of unloading and erecting the restaurant began in earnest.

A large crane was hauling the pieces of restaurant from the trailer.
The restaurant is planned to be open next month, and set to join the two major businesses setting up home at Chartwell are the pizza giant Domino's, with the opening of their first-ever Bridgnorth branch.
The pizza chain revealed it was eyeing up the historic market town for its next branch in April last year, telling the Shropshire Star they were planning on opening a store on the town's High Street, next to Greggs.
But in May, plans were submitted to Shropshire Council that would see Domino's open in one of the new units at the business park off Stourbridge Road.
The consultation period has finished on that application, and a decision is due from Shropshire Council in the coming weeks.
