Work date is lined up for £12m Walsall cinema
Work on a new multi-million pound cinema, leisure and retail complex in Walsall is expected to begin at the end of the summer, if the scheme is backed by council chiefs.
Firm plans for the ambitious £12 million Littleton Centre development have been submitted to Walsall Council and are expected to be considered by councillors next month.
Cordwell Property, which is behind the scheme, say the aim is to be on site at the end of summer and start in September, with the intention of launching in October 2014.
The nine-screen state of the art, digital cinema is to be run by Vue. There has already been interest from national and regional operators in opening restaurants at the complex near Tesco off Littleton Street.
It is anticipated the proposals will be considered by the council's planning committee in June. In excess of 250 jobs will be created if the 45,000 sq ft development gets the go-ahead.
Tom Wilcox, of Cordwell, said: "We're confident The Littleton Centre site will be a huge success."
