Vehicle 'abandoned for weeks' at Esso petrol station in Great Barr finally removed
A notice was placed on the vehicle at Esso in Great Barr weeks ago.
An abandoned vehicle which was left at the Esso petrol station in Great Barr, near the M6, ‘for weeks’ has finally been removed.
Residents spotted the notice on the discarded grey Renault Clio at the petrol station on Birmingham Road before the local elections at the start of the month (May 7).
The notice stated that the vehicle would be destroyed if not removed within two weeks, however, it remained at the site more than three weeks later.
Over the weekend (May 30), it was spotted that the vehicle had finally been removed.
At the time a 29-year-old resident, who declined to give his name, said: “I don’t know when it was left there as I only noticed it was abandoned when the notice was on it but it’s been there for weeks. I pass it almost every day.

“The notice said that it would be removed after two weeks but it’s definitely been longer than that - well over a month I’d say.”
The notice, which is issued by Euro Car Parks Ltd, read: “Please note that this vehicle has been left on this site with neither leave nor licence of the Land Owner, the Managing Agent or Tenant.
“On behalf of the Land Owner/Managing Agents at the following Address: MFG-Esso-Londis-Great Barr-76 Birmingham Road, Great Barr, Birmingham, 843 6NT . You are hereby given notice that this vehicle will be removed from this location on / / 2026, unless it is permanently moved from this site.
“The vehicle will be scrapped Immediately on behalf of the land Owner The registered keeper information for this vehicle may also be sought from the DVLA with a view to recharging all costs and expenses in connection with its removal to the keeper.
“Removal of this notice will not delay the removal of this vehicle! TIME AND DATE STAMPED PHOTOGRAPHS HAVE BEEN TAKEN OF THIS NOTICE ATTACHED TO THE VEHICLE FOR USE IN A COURT OF LAW IF REQUIRED.”

No end date for the notice, which is attached to the front and back of the vehicle, has been written on it.
The Express & Star checked the vehicle registration via the Government website and found that the vehicle is fully taxed but it’s MOT expired in January 2026.
The website ‘isitnicked.com’ states there is no record of it being recorded as stolen on the Police National Computer (PNC). West Midlands Police have been contacted to verify.
A spokesperson for Sandwell Council: “The council takes the abandonment of vehicles very seriously and we regularly work with the police to remove such vehicles from public land.
“If a vehicle is on private land, as in this case, it is the responsibility of the landowner to identify whether it has been abandoned and then follow the correct processes to remove it if so.”
Euro Car Parks Ltd have also been contacted for comment.
