Two more arrests made after disorder involving 'man with rifle' in Norton Canes

More arrests have been made following the disorder, which broke out on a street in Norton Canes.

Further arrests have been made following a disorder incident in Norton Canes.

Staffordshire Police said officers were called to School Road at 3.40pm on Tuesday following a report that a man was in possession of a rifle.

Shortly after, the force said it received another report that two men had been assaulted on the same road.

After carrying out enquiries at the scene, officers reached an understanding that a fight had taken place in the area between a small group of people following an argument.

Armed officers went to the scene and seized an air rifle from inside a home on the road, with no serious injuries being reported, and a 20-year-old man, from Norton Canes, was arrested on suspicion of affray and air weapon and possession with intent to cause fear of violence.

Staffordshire Police said that a further two people have now been arrested since, with an 18-year-old man, from Norton Canes, arrested on suspicion of affray and another man, 33, from Norton Canes, arrested on suspicion of assault by beating.

All three remain in custody.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: “Officers have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries and have captured CCTV from the scene.
