Travellers' caravans move off New Square shopping centre car park in West Bromwich

Rubbish was left behind by the group which had parked up at New Square shopping centre late on Monday.

Centre bosses confirmed the group had left the car park, off Congregation Way, by 6pm yesterday.

Around five caravans had parked up at the centre prompting security staff and bailiffs to take action.

Shoppers had expressed their shock at seeing part of the car park blocked by the encampment.

Centre manager Steve Burr said: "The travellers left site at 6pm on Tuesday evening.

"Any rubbish was left tied up in a couple of black bags."

This is the latest in a series of encampments which have been set up at locations across the Black Country in recent months.
