West Midlands rail delays due to train 'striking an object'

Commuters are warned of train delays and cancellations between Walsall and Rugeley this morning.

West Midlands Railway has reported delays on the Walsall to Rugeley line due to a train striking an object.

In a social media post, West Midlands Railway has shared that a “train striking an object between Walsall - Rugeley” has meant that there are cancellations and delays on the line at the moment.

On the Trainline app, services between Walsall and Rugeley Trent Valley are cancelled for the next hour. Trainline has said that its services are “cancelled because of an obstruction on the track”.

The delay is affecting both directions of travel.

Though services look like they won’t be delayed for long, as the 9.38am service from Walsall and Rugeley Trent Valley looks scheduled to go ahead as usual.

West Midlands Railway has said that tickets will be accepted on Cross Country Services between Birmingham - Stafford, Birmingham New Street - Tamworth & Birmingham New Street - Nuneaton.

Train tickets should also be accepted on bus services as well.
