Motorists warned to expect delays after two lanes closed on M6 near Walsall due to collision

Motorists heading south on the M6 have been warned to expect delays after a multi-vehicle collision left two lanes closed for more than half-an-hour.

The collision happened on the M6 southbound between junction 10A for the M54 and junction 10 for Walsall just before 12pm and saw two lanes closed while emergency services teams worked at the scene.

Motorists heading down the southbound carriageway were warned to expect delays of up to 40 minutes, with queues seen building.

A spokesman for National Highways West Midlands said: "Lanes one and two of four are closed on the M6 southbound between junction 10A for the M54 and junction 10 for Walsall due to a multi-vehicle collision. 

"Emergency services are working on scene.

"There are delays of at least 40 minutes on approach."

A later update by National Highways West Midlands said the scene had been cleared, with all lanes now open, but warned of residual delays along the carriageway.

The update read: "The scene is clear and all lanes are running on the M6 southbound between junction 10A for the M54 and junction 10 for Walsall following an earlier multi-vehicle collision. 

"There are residual delays of at least 20 minutes in the area."
