Long delays on M5 near West Bromwich after lorry spills offal

There are long delays on the M5 near West Bromwich after a lorry shed its load, spilling offal across the carriageway.

The northbound carriageway between junction one for West Bromwich and M6 junction 8 was reduced to one lane after the spillage, which happened around 4.41pm.

It has left long delays over about six miles down the motorway and around an hour of delays while National Highways officers work to clear the scene.

A spokesman for National Highways West Midlands said: "On the M5 northbound between junction 1 for West Bromwich and the M6 junction 8, lanes 1 and 2 are closed due to an offal spillage. 

"There is currently approximately six miles of congestion on approach, causing delays of 60 minutes above usual journey times."
