The extent of the man's injuries are not yet known, a spokesman said.

He was taken to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital for emergency treatment.

Train services through Wolverhampton are being cancelled or delayed as a result.

While some lines have now reopened, disruption is expected to last until around 3.30pm, according to train operator West Midlands Railway.

West Midlands Railway tickets will be accepted on Cross Country services, and bus and West Midlands Metro services.

Replacement coach services were being set up between Wolverhampton and Stafford stations and Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury.
