Tim Hortons at Merry Hill could become Chick-fil-A

The plans will see the Tim Hortons location turned into a Chick-fil-A.

A Tim Hortons on Station Drive, Brierley Hill retail park, is set to become a Chick-fil-A restaurant under new plans.

The plans for refurbishment and a change of use were approved by planning officers at Dudley Council on April 15, with the application covering full planning permission for redesigning and reusing the single-storey to support a drive-thru model.

The plans will also include two small extensions to the front and side of the building, a simplified roof design, a new modern facade with updated cladding and reworked glazing, as well as improvements to the drive-thru.

The planning statement reads: “The restaurant will meet consumer needs for fast, accessible food service, especially for families, shoppers and commuters.

“The existing single-storey building will be upgraded as part of the proposed works, including two small extensions to the front and side of the building,

“Overall, the proposal will enhance the appearance and functionality of the site, improve customer accessibility and safety and secure the long-term viable use of the unit within a well-established commercial setting.”

The proposal also includes a change of use to a restaurant and takeaway, with planners saying that it reflects Chick-fil-A’s business model.

The report said: “The proposed redevelopment of the Tim Hortons drive-thru restaurant within the retail area of the Merry Hill shopping centre is considered to be appropriate and in accordance with the relevant policies of the local plan.

“The design and alterations to the unit are considered to have regard to the existing site, and its immediate surroundings.”
