Three men guilty of drug dealing activity in Sandwell

The defendants from West Bromwich were involved in drug dealing to the tune of thousands of pounds.

Three men have been found guilty of supplying crack cocaine and heroin in the Sandwell area by majority verdicts.

Adam Liaqat, aged 19, Asad Khan, aged 23, of West Bromwich, and Yakuba Sawaneh, aged 19, who has links to Erdington, were all convicted by a jury following a trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court for a string of offences relating to a supply ring that was operating in the borough.

All three were arrested after crack cocaine and heroin wraps with an estimated street value of more than £3,000 were seized by West Midlands Police during an operation last year.

The jury heard that officers searched an area, in Beeches Road, in Oldbury, on December 12 and recovered 111 heroin wraps worth £1,110 and 109 crack cocaine wraps worth £1,090. The following day a search of a silver coloured Honda linked to the group uncovered 114 crack cocaine cigarettes worth £1,140.

A red Mitsubishi stolen in Newhall Road, Rowley Regis, in November 2023 and recovered in Perry Barr was also traced to the defendants.

Liaqat, of Middlemore Road; Khan, of Lones Road, both West Bromwich; and Sawaneh, of no fixed address, will be sentenced at a later date.
