Three injured in big smash

Three people were injured when a truck and car collided with both landing in the front garden of a house on the main road through a Staffordshire village.

The accident happened at about 10.45 last night when a Ford truck, believed to belong to a landscape gardener, was travelling along the A34 Walsall Road in Great Wyrley.

It collided with a Range Rover which was coming out of Jacobs Hall Lane and both vehicles smashed into the boundary of the house opposite - avoiding the wall and gate.

The man driving the truck had minor injuries but his passenger was taken to Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham. She is said to have serious injuries. The woman driving the Range Rover went to Staffordshire General Hospital with minor injuries.

John Robb, who owns the house, said: "We were just in the other room and we heard a really big crash."

Mr Robb is pictured with the tangled mess on his drive after two vehicles crashed.
