'This thing is stuck there' - Tree remains in gardens of homes near Wolverhampton almost four months on
A tree estimated to weigh around 50 tonnes remains in the gardens of two homes near Wolverhampton after it was brought down in a storm almost four months ago.
The tree landed into the gardens of two properties on Radford Lane in Lower Penn on December 7 as the region battled strong winds during Storm Darragh (December 2024).
It fell from the grounds of the The Old Wulfrunians Sports and Social Club, which is owned by the Old Wulfrunians Association Limited.

In February, the club said it would be looking to "finalise discussions" with its insurer and make arrangements to remove the tree "as soon as possible".
However, almost four months to the day that the tree fell, it still remains in the gardens of the homes - including Peter Scarrott's.
Mr Scarrott said: "I'm 80-years-old and it's a lot of stress. There was damage caused to my house [during the storm] which has been sorted out by my insurers, but this thing is stuck there and there's no moving it.
"My insurers got a team of contractors to come in and put the metal fencing on my property so I can't even use my garden now.
"My garden backs onto the other properties which means they are susceptible to break-ins so it's a worry for everyone."

Mr Scarrott was in his bedroom on the evening of December 7 when he heard what he described as the "horrendous" sounds of the storm, but didn't discover the enormous tree in his and his neighbours' garden until the next morning.

He earlier claimed people have trespassed in his garden due to the tree bringing down fence panels, as well as causing damage to the roof of his shed.
