Support worker admits defrauding Dudley victims to the tune of £40,000
A former support care worker has pleaded guilty to defrauding two victims of a combined sum of more than £40,000.
Toni Wilkinson, aged 45, from Oldbury appeared at Dudley Magistrates Court on February 11 charged with two offences of abusing her position as a support care worker to dishonestly make a gain for herself.
District Judge Michael Wheeler heard that between September 12, 2021 and March 15, 2023 the defendant gained £37,820 for herself from the first victim an individual whose financial interests she was expected to safeguard.
Between July 28, 2021 and February 1, 2023 she gained £2,750 from the second victim.
Both offences occurred in the Dudley area.
The judge deemed the case unsuitable for sentencing at the magistrates court due to the sums involved and ordered reports.
Consequently the defendant was committed to Wolverhampton Crown Court where she is due to be sentenced on March 11.
Wilkinson, of Valentine Road, in Oldbury, was granted unconditional bail until then.
