Stourbridge teacher who groomed under age girl is banned from profession for life

A school teacher has been banned from the profession for life after admitting two counts of trying to engage an underage child into sexual activity.

Nicholas Saxon, aged 31, was employed as a science teacher at The Wordsley School, Stourbridge between September 1 2024 until April 11 last year when his contract was terminated.

Mr Saxon, who was the subject of a professional conduct panel meeting of the Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) had admitted two counts at Wolverhampton Crown Court over the incident which took place between February 17 and February 20 last year.

They were that he attempted to engage in sexual communication with a child and attempted to cause or incite a female child of under 13 to engage in sexual activity.

He was arrested by police on February 24 and charged the next day.

At court he was sentenced to a community order until March 27, 2027. He was also ordered to complete rehabilitation activities for 55 days and undergo alcohol treatment programme for four months, sign the sex offenders register for five years and be subject to a sexual harm prevention order for the same period.

The hearing, which took place on March 24, was held without Mr Saxon present - he had already provided a signed statement of agreed facts and admitted the conviction for a relevant offence.

It found he was in breach of teaching standards of treating pupils with dignity and respect and observing proper boundaries, found he didn't have proper and professional regard for the ethos, policies and practices of the school in which he was teaching and acted outside his professional duties and responsibilities.

The report, which has just been published by the TRA, concluded his behaviour could have had an impact on the safety of the pupils and members of the public.

It said there was no evidence to suggest he was acting under extreme duress or that his actions were not deliberate and he hadn't shown any insight or remorse for his actions.

David Oatley, who acted on behalf of the secretary of state, banned Mr Saxon from teaching indefinitely in any school sixth form college, relevant youth accommodation or children’s home in England and ordered that he would not be entitled to re-apply to do so.
