More than 40 Stourbridge motorists face consequences in crackdown on driving offences

Stourbridge Sergeant Lauren Stopher-Murray said the operation is not a one-off, with further enforcement planned at all times of the day and night.

More than 40 motorists are set to receive written warnings or prosecution notices after crackdown on anti-social behaviour and driving offences in Stourbridge.

West Midlands Police say offices from its Stourbridge Neighbourhood Policing team joined forces with the Road Harm Prevention to carry out a traffic operation on October 14, acting on concerns by residents of motorists driving dangerously.

Focusing on Stourbridge Ring Road and Birmingham Street, the teams were looking out for any drivers speeding, drink or drug driving, failing to wear a seatbelt, using a phone while driving or engaging in anti-social behaviour.

Police say a total of 11 drivers were dealt with at the roadside for offences including illegal window tints, speeding and driving without insurance, while a further 45 motorists will also receive letters in the post, with some receiving warnings and others notices of intended prosecution for speeding.

Speaking about the latest crackdown, Stourbridge Sergeant Lauren Stopher-Murray, said: “We know residents in the area have concerns around ASB taking place on the roads in Stourbridge and drivers speeding and driving dangerously putting innocent motorists and pedestrians at risk.

“We listen to every single report we receive and are working alongside our partners to tackle this issue.

“This operation is not a one off, we have further enforcement planned which will take place at all times of the day and night and my teams will continue to carry out regular patrols at these areas to ensure everyone is abiding by the laws of the road.”
