The four Slater offspring this week celebrate their 21st birthdays with a series of bashes worthy of the occasion.

But when father and mother, Paul and Georgia, learned they were to be the parents of the world's first two simultaneous sets of twins they feared that they would not all survive.

Happily Jade and Warren and second pair Roxanne and Gregg were all healthy babies.

Today, 21 years on, the Stafford-born quartet remain very close but all lead their own lives.

Jade, Gregg and Warren went on to university after A-levels, but Roxanne went straight into work. She joined the Francesco Group at Eccleshall and is now a hairdresser.

Jade, Gregg and Warren plan to travel the world after completing their degree courses. But for the present it's celebration time to commemorate their births on June 24, 1986 with parties and dinners. It culminating on Saturday with a family party at Stafford Cricket Club.

Gregg said of being one of four: "People are always asking 'What's it like?' But to be honest life's pretty normal really. I suppose you just get used to it." Warren, a big Liverpool supporter, said: " Of course we have had our little rows, but I think as we've got older we get on really well." Jade agreed by saying: "We all like going out and we are a very sporty family."

Roxanne said: "It's all totally normal for us having these multiple celebrations, but I suppose 21 is a milestone and it may be the last birthday when we are all here together."

Paul and Georgia, both aged 48, have since split up but remain friends. They both live in Weston Road, with the children dividing their time between the two. Fifth child Jessica, 18 months the twins' senior, is now working for Galaxy Radio in Birmingham.
