'Flooding possible' at two Staffordshire rivers as warnings issued

Flood warnings are in place in two areas of Staffordshire as the region prepares for a wet and windy build up to Christmas.

Two rivers in the county could be at risk of bursting their banks according to The Environment Agency's Check for Flooding Service, who have put two amber flood alerts in place.

It means they believe flooding is possible in both the  'Stone Trent' and the 'River Sow and River Penk' areas of Staffordshire.

They are part of 84 amber flood warnings across the UK, while seven have received red alerts, meaning flooding is expected in those areas.

A Met Office amber weather warning is currently in force for some parts of the UK - including North Staffordshire - with "very heavy and persistent rain" expected to continue into next week, with a potential danger to life in some areas.
