A woman has been seriously injured and left in a critical condition after a two car head-on crash in Staffordshire.
The 36-year-old woman driver was airlifted to hospital following the smash near the Shugborough Estate, which also saw a male driver taken to hospital.
The crash, at 9.15am outside Haywood Park Farm between the rear entrance of Shugborough Hall and Weetman's Bridge, involved a blue Ford C-Max Zetec travelling from Milford towards Wolsley Bridge and a blue Ford Fiesta travelling in the opposite direction.
Firefighters from Stafford and Stone cut free the drivers and the road was closed for four hours.
Claire Thomas from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "The two cars suffered front end damage which left the drivers, a man and a woman, trapped in their vehicles. The woman was unconscious and had suffered serious head, chest and leg injuries."
Both the woman and a 59-year-old male driver were taken to University Hospital North Staffordshire.
