Watch: Fresh aerial pictures show ongoing demolition works of Cannock Shopping Centre
New images have shown the progression of demolition works of the Cannock Shopping Centre, only meters away from the Prince of Wales Theatre.
Fresh pictures and video footage have shown the advancements of work to demolish the old Cannock Shopping Centre on Market Place, Cannock.
The demolition works form part of Cannock Chase Council's ambitious scheme to regenerate the town centre, which is part of a £20 million fund from the Government's Levelling Up Fund.

The works are taking place only meters away from the doomed Prince of Wales Theatre, which itself was earmarked for closure in November.
The new images show the building in a partial state of destruction, with mounds of material being seen stacked near the neighbouring theatre.
Heavy moving machines can also be seen amongst the debris, moving rubble from one location to the next, stacking the material near the Prince of Wales Theatre to await removal.
In October, Cannock Chase Council announced the beginning phases of the destruction of the shopping centre; however, they stressed that the nearby Prince of Wales would be safe from the work.

Barriers blocking public access to the worksite can also be seen on the high street, with one image perfectly showing the 'Prince of Wales Theatre' sign.
Earlier this year, workers could also be seen clearing a site off Church Street and the Ringway, in preparation for the major redevelopment project to take place.

When the council announced the redevelopment project, they said the removal of the multi-storey car park, a canopy, and old retail units would signal a fresh and ambitious start for Cannock, and a necessary step in bringing the town centre to life.
