She previously served as cabinet support member for children with special educational needs and disabilities.
Councillor Lakin will continue to serve as county councillor for Bradwell and Porthill.

County Council leader, Councillor Martin Murray, said: “I would like to thank Nick for his hard work and for the contribution he has made, not only to this council, but to improving the lives of young people in our county.
“Ofsted recognised the improvement to our children’s services and there is no doubt he hands over the role leaving the council in a much stronger position.
“I would also like to welcome Su to her new role in Cabinet and I have absolute confidence Su will continue to build on the work already delivered by Nick and our fantastic staff.”
Councillor Murray said a new cabinet support member for special educational needs would be confirmed in due course.
