'They'll clear the road when they see me coming!' Watch Christmas wish come true for 101-year-old as she enjoys dream ride in Rolls-Royce
This is the moment 101-year-old Dorcas Dearne fulfilled a lifelong dream… to go for a ride in a Rolls-Royce.
The retired hospital worker from Walsall, who is a resident at The Cedars nursing home in Albrighton, was asked by carer Lara Blackshaw what her one Christmas wish would be.
Dorcas told her it would be to ride in a Roller, as she was meant to arrive at her wedding to husband Reg in one but, unfortunately, it never happened.
Lara and colleague Chelsea Streete conspired to try and make her wish come true by posting about it online and, by the power of social media, they were inundated with offers.

Their post had more than 1,000 shares on Facebook and there was even a company from Bradford, Yorkshire, who was willing to help.
However it was someone a bit more local - Tina and Richard Johnson from Sedgley - who gave Dorcas her dream trip.
Dorcas’ face was a picture as she made her way out to see the stunning silver car, polished to perfection.

Asked what she thought of it, Dorcas said: “Lovely, I wish I was capable of driving it. They’ll clear the roads when they see me coming!”
When Dorcas was 90, she chose to give up her driving licence after being run off the road and into a hedge in Albrighton.
Fortunately, she was in for a much more relaxing and luxurious trip this time around.
Having sunk deep into the plush leather seats, Dorcas could only just peek out of the window.

But she still gave a regal wave to friends and care home staff as the luxury motor purred out of the driveway and took her for a ride round the block in Albrighton.
On her trip she saw two horses, and stopped off at The Crown for a cup of tea and a mince pie and to greet her loyal subjects.
“She said she felt like the Queen when she came back,” said Christina Spain, manager of the care home.
“It was a bit of a life ambition for her. She was so surprised. She was overwhelmed.

“She said she didn’t sleep all night because she knew she had a surprise but didn’t know what it was.”
Dorcas was born in Walsall, went to Old Fallings School in Low Hill, Wolverhampton, and spent most of her life in Wednesfield, Wolverhampton.
She worked in a post office after leaving school before spending many years working in the admissions department at New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton - a job which she “loved” before retiring at 62.
She and late husband Reg had one son, Phillip.
