Sex offender jailed after assaulting teenager on West Midlands train

A man who sexually assaulted an 18-year-old woman on a train travelling through Coventry has been jailed following an investigation by British Transport Police.
Adrian White, 47, of Sandringham Road, London, was sentenced to eight months in prison after admitting one count of sexual assault.
White appeared at Highbury Magistrates' Court on May 26, where he was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for the next 10 years.
The court heard that the victim was travelling with friends on a train from Birmingham New Street to London Euston on the afternoon of June 27 last year when White entered their carriage.
After initially attempting to strike up conversation with the group, White began making inappropriate comments towards the young woman. Despite the women making it clear they did not wish to engage with him, he continued to harass them throughout the journey.
As the train approached Coventry and the victim stood up to leave, White sexually assaulted her.
The incident was reported immediately to railway staff, who removed White from the train. He was later arrested by British Transport Police officers and subsequently charged.
Following the sentencing, investigating officer PC Dominic Johnston welcomed the prison sentence.
He said: "White's sleazy and lewd behaviour unnerved the women who made it abundantly clear they did not wish to engage with him.
"Despite this, White continued to harass the group before his behaviour escalated and he sexually assaulted one of them.
"I commend the victim's bravery in reporting what happened and for her constant and steadfast support of our investigation. I hope that this prison sentence will provide White with the opportunity to reflect upon his intolerable behaviour."
